Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12th of November, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej [now Onesti(born November 12, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now One Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast to be awarded a perfect score of 10 points in an Olympic competition. Comaneci was spotted by Bela Karolyi who was later her Romanian gymnastics coach when she was six years old. She first competed at the championships for juniors from Romania in 1969, she was 13th. And in 1970, won. In her very first international competition in 1972, she took the top spot with three gold medals. The athlete won four golds and one silver in her debut competition as a senior that took place in 1975. This was her first time she had competed as an adult. She took home the American Cup at the New York City Olympics and was the first female in history to dismount the parallel bars using a double backward salto. When she was a teen she began her career in the entertainment field as a performer as figure skater. Together with her twin brother Nina Wayne she was part of a traveling show called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne is a US citizen born September 6 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. Carol began her career in the entertainment business in her teens. As a young girl she was an ice skater with Nina Wayne in the travelling entertainment show Ice Capades. Ice Capades showcased performances of skating on ice performed by actors.
